What this page is

This page states how one platform handles crypto, from the vendor’s own help documentation. It is one of six platform pages sharing one shape. None reviews the platform or recommends it.

Venmo is the sister-platform case of the six. Its crypto services are provided by the same entity as PayPal’s, under a dated name change. Starting 19 May 2026, crypto services are provided by PayPal Digital, Inc., doing business as Venmo Digital [1]. The fee tiers match the PayPal page’s tiers, and the stablecoin lane is the same token [5]. This page states the Venmo surface, and the similarities are facts, not endorsements.

Buying, by the vendor’s steps

The flow, captured 11 September 2026 [2].

  1. Open the Crypto tab.
  2. Select the cryptocurrency.
  3. Enter a dollar amount.
  4. Review, with the fee breakdown shown.
  5. Buy.

Funding runs from the Venmo balance, a bank account, or a debit card. Credit cards and the Venmo Credit Card are excluded, in the vendor’s own words [2].

Selling and transferring out

Selling runs from the same tab: select the crypto, Sell, enter the amount [3]. The settlement line is the vendor’s. Money from selling crypto is typically available in your Venmo account right away [3].

The transfer-out flow carries the most steps of any page in this series [4].

  1. Verify identity first.
  2. Open the Crypto tab and pick the crypto.
  3. Tap the transfer arrows, bottom right.
  4. Choose Send.
  5. Pick the recipient, Venmo username, external address, or recent.
  6. For PYUSD, confirm the wallet type.
  7. Enter the amount, with fees calculated.
  8. Select the network, if shown.
  9. Add a destination tag or memo where required.
  10. Send.

The network step carries the vendor’s warning, quoted. Make sure you and the recipient make the same choice [4].

Caveats and availability

The vendor’s warnings, quoted. There is not a way for you to cancel or reverse a crypto transaction [1]. Recently purchased crypto can carry a settlement wait of up to seven days before it transfers out [1]. Availability is scoped to personal profiles, not business or charity profiles, with identity verification including SSN or ITIN [1].

Where this page sits

The PayPal page holds the same provider entity with a different asset surface. The Cash App page holds the platform that lists USDC instead. The off-ramps page holds the bank legs. The spend hub frames the cluster. Every figure above carries its capture date.

Frequently asked questions

What is PYUSD and where can I use it?

PayPal USD is PayPal's stablecoin, and it is the stablecoin lane on Venmo, per the vendor's own list. Inside the app it sends to Venmo usernames or external wallet addresses. The buy and sell fee tiers do not apply to it. The stablecoin on this platform is PYUSD, not USDC.

How do I send USDC to someone?

You cannot, on this platform. USDC is absent from Venmo's list of transactable cryptocurrencies, a dated vendor-list absence. The documented send rail for a stablecoin is PYUSD, through the transfer arrows flow, with the vendor's warning that sender and recipient must make the same network choice.

Can you pay bills with USDC?

Not through this app. Venmo's crypto feature buys, sells, holds, sends, and receives, per the vendor's FAQ. It does not run a bill-payment rail in crypto. Spending a stablecoin at a biller happens on other rails, which the methods page maps with dates.

Can you convert USDC to cash?

The USDC question does not arise here, because USDC is not listed. The nearest documented flow is selling a listed coin into the Venmo balance, which the vendor says is typically available right away. The off-ramps page carries the bank-leg fee comparisons with dates.

How do I spend stablecoins?

On this platform the stablecoin is PYUSD. The documented spending path is indirect: sell or hold in-app, spend the dollar balance through Venmo's payment rails. Direct merchant stablecoin acceptance is a different rail entirely. The methods page maps all six.
