Coinage Privacy Policy: What This Site Collects

What this site is

Coinage is a static website. Pages are built once and served as files. There is no login, no account, and no user profile. There are no comments, no newsletter signup, and no forms that submit personal data to us. If a page looks interactive, the interaction happens in your browser, not on our servers.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for your name, email, or payment details anywhere on this site. We do not sell or share personal data, because we do not hold any to share. This page exists to explain the two things that do exist: a measurement script and server logs.

The one third-party script

Every page loads exactly one third-party script: Google Analytics 4. It is loaded from googletagmanager.com on every page view. Google’s own policy pages describe what that script collects and how the data is used ^[1]. In plain terms, it records page views and basic device signals so we can count traffic. It can set cookies on your device for measurement purposes. Blocking it in your browser does not break anything on the site. Every page keeps working with the script blocked, because nothing on Coinage depends on it.

Cookies in detail

The only cookies that can appear on this site come from that measurement script. Google’s measurement cookie typically holds a random identifier and lasts up to two years. Google’s policy pages describe the full set ^[1]. The site itself sets no cookies. No consent banner is needed for a preference we do not store, and no session exists to maintain. If you clear cookies, nothing on Coinage behaves differently afterward. Nothing on Coinage depended on them.

You can refuse the measurement script entirely. Most browsers let you block third-party scripts or all cookies per site. The pages keep loading, the tables keep rendering, and the sources keep linking. Measurement is a counting layer, not a functioning layer.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, as nearly every web host does. A log entry records the request time, the page requested, the referring page, and the IP address that made the request. Logs exist to debug problems and block abuse. They are kept for the host’s standard retention period and are not used to build profiles of readers.

Your rights

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation grants you rights over personal data, including the right to access it and the right to have it erased ^[2]. Because this site holds no accounts and no profiles, most of those rights touch only the server logs described above. The GDPR page explains each right and how to make a request. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the page carries a new last reviewed date at the top of its sources, and material changes are noted in the press room correction feed. The policy you are reading always states the current practice, not a planned one.
